POSITION OVERVIEW

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering (KIE) has an opening for a dynamic Structural Engineer Intern in our growing Construction Engineering Services Group. You will be part of our rapidly growing Infrastructure Design Department, which includes structural, geotechnical, civil, drainage, roadway, rail, and materials disciplines, is a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on the design-build delivery of infrastructure projects.
 
Our Construction Engineering Services (CES) group consists of innovative design engineers whose expertise in designing and building temporary works adds value and ensures success of Kiewit’s projects. Additionally, CES provides on-site engineering and coordination support, leading and collaborating with Kiewit’s construction teams. 

DISTRICT OVERVIEW

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering's Design-Build team is driving clients to turn to Kiewit during all stages of design-build projects. Through our integrated design and construction approach, our multi-disciplinary team works together to improve schedule, control costs, and minimize risk. Our construction-focused engineers work collaboratively with our estimators and builders to design solutions that are innovative, constructible, and designed with a focus on safety. Clients benefit from the proven processes and tools used by Kiewit to minimize project risk. We are an in-house resource that supports projects throughout the company. Our staff shares experiences gained, innovative concepts, and best practices for all projects that we support.

LOCATION

This internship could be based out of our Denver (Lone Tree), CO office. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Produce simple structural/bridge design calculations
  • Review and check structural/bridge design calculations
  • Analysis using structural engineering software

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Pursuing a degree in Structural Engineering or a related degree
  • Be available for full-time work during the 2023 summer
  • GPA above 3.0 preferred
  • Completed a fundamental of structural analysis course which includes computer application preferred
  • Completed a strength of materials course with statics and dynamics application preferred
  • Completed fundamentals of steel design course and/or fundamentals of concrete design course preferred
  • Should be comfortable with the use of basic spreadsheet, database, and word processing programs.
  • Must be familiar with basic structural analysis software, engineering software, and basic CADD software for reviewing drafter’s work.
  • Highly desirable that the individual will have specific knowledge of SAP2000, MathCad, and Navisworks.
  • Strong work ethic - willing to do what it takes to get the job done
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Be willing to fully participate in job assignments at the job site, district office or department to which the intern is assigned

•   Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.

Base Compensation: $15.00/hr - $23.00/hr 
(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
