Landscape Designer


Position Type: Full-Time, Salary Exempt
Pay Range: $55,000-$77,000
Location: Great Falls, VA

Job Summary:
Join a reputable company as a Landscape Designer! As a key team member, you will collaborate with senior team members to produce high-quality conceptual designs using digital techniques, from landscape plans to construction details. You'll work on various projects, including plantings and landscape designs, outdoor kitchens, fireplaces, pools, spas, water features, hardscapes, and fire pits.
 
As a representative of the company, you'll also provide support on estimating and bidding, proposal preparation, and special projects. Attending client-facing events and meetings with the sales team to ensure client design needs are met. Ideal candidates should have a Bachelor's Degree in Landscape Architecture or Landscape Design, excellent design skills, attention to detail, experience working directly with clients, and the ability to read landscape plans and engineering sets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design Process- Work closely with senior team members to generate conceptual designs using a variety of digital techniques, rendered landscape plans, and construction details. Design scope will include, but is not limited to:
  1. Plantings and landscape designs
  2. Pools, spas & water features
  3. Structures: decks, screened porches, pool houses, pavilions, pergolas
  4. Patios, walkways, retaining walls
  5. Fireplaces & fire pits
  6. Outdoor kitchens
  7. Landscape lighting
  8. Drainage solutions, etc. 
  • Estimating Bidding Support- Support on sourcing the best possible vendors and subcontractors, including civil and structural engineers. Assisting with permitting process when required.
  • Proposal Preparation - Assisting with proposals for high-end residential and commercial properties based on accurate field verification, measurements, and analyses.
  • Special Projects - Coordinating and collaborating with team members within the Company to ensure our clients are taken care of from beginning to end. Being a voice and face for Rossen Landscape while representing the Company in front of clients, in our community, and with our vendors.
  • Participate in Client Facing Events- Attending meetings with the sales team and/or clients. Taking comprehensive notes about site conditions and client design needs. Assisting with elevation and site measurements. 
 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Designing skills.

  • Complex problem-solving skills at identifying and creatively reviewing related information.
  • Working independently and as part of a team.
  • Leveraging technology (Vectorworks, Adobe Photoshop, Go iLawn, Aspire Software, Microsoft Office, Outlook, Microsoft Teams).
  • Critical thinking and active listening.
  • Ability to multitask different projects or designs.
  • Knowledge of horticultural materials and planting techniques specific to the mid-Atlantic region and prior experience installing plants and/or hardscaping materials.
  • Ability to read scaled landscape plans, engineering plan sets, and construction details.
  • Ability to calculate labor costs, material requirements, and quantities based on site plans.
 
 
Preferred Education/Certification/Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture or Landscape Design.
  • State or national landscape industry certification(s) preferred.
  • Landscape and hardscape design experience preferred in a position that involved working directly with residential and commercial clients (2 years).
  • Driver’s License (Clean Driving Record).
