Centennial Coordinator Intern at Craters of the Moon


Summary: The National Park Service is recruiting nine-to-12-month intern to help plan for the park’s centennial celebration at Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve (CRMO). The members will serve with the interpretive and education teams within the Visitor Services Division. The park anticipates over 275,000 visitors during the centennial year. 
 
Duties and Responsibilities: Major duties are related to coordinating logistical and administrative support needs of multiple, complex events around the centennial at Craters of the Moon. Some events will take place in-person, and some will occur online. The intern will work alongside the Director of Interpretation and Education.
 
Specific activities include: 
·        Research the natural and cultural resources of CRMO. 
·        Contribute to the creation of the Centennial Communication Plan.
·        Evaluates previous NPS planning events and makes recommendations to determine requirements as to space, facilities, technology, equipment, and on-site management.
·        Participates in the planning and establishment of goals and objectives for Centennial events, with respect to speakers, facilities, equipment, logistical requirements, and other related issues.
·        Act as liaison between NPS staff, volunteers, partners, and organizers with regards to the logistical operations of Centennial program events.
·        Designs and prepares various marketing materials (with assistance from the park’s Visual Information Specialists), to include brochures and flyers for Centennial events.
·        Monitors and coordinates Centennial event activities and prepares internal reports for management.
·        Participates in various committees related to the Centennial.
·        Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
 
 
Required Qualifications: 
·        Strong interpersonal and communication skills including written and verbal communication.
·        Ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals.
·        Ability to perform complex tasks and to prioritize multiple projects.
·        Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials.
·        Ability to investigate and analyze information and draw conclusions.
Desired (Optional) Qualifications: 
·        College coursework in natural science or parks and recreation. 
·        Ability to gather and analyze statistical data and generate reports.
·        Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
·        Knowledge and understanding of meeting and event planning principles, requirements, procedures, and available resources. Or intern has the ability and desire to learn.
Duty Location: 
Duties are performed within the Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve in Arco, ID.
 
Terms of Employment: 
•      Intern will complete the 36 or 52 weeks from fall 2023 to summer or fall 2024.
•      The member will average 40 hours of labor per week, minus holidays. 
•      Interns are responsible for providing their own food. Personal transportation needed. Park housing is available.
