ScholarMatch Development Intern


ScholarMatch Internship Program
The ScholarMatch Student Internship Program is designed to create opportunities for career experience and professional relationships. During the 12-month duration, interns will be introduced to a hands-on virtual learning environment that will provide space to develop practical competencies, effective communication, and technical proficiency that prepares them for post-graduate and workforce success in their community. Our internship program’s mission is to provide challenging learning assignments that will provide interns with real-life experience and prepare them for a future in the nonprofit industry. This remote internship is available to those who reside in the state of California and are authorized to work in the United States. Applicants must be enrolled undergraduates in their Junior or Senior year; or recent college graduates (individuals who have earned a degree within one year). DACA students with an EAD/work permit are also encouraged and eligible to apply.  Preference is given to applicants who have experience with first-generation college students and/or students from marginalized backgrounds who are underrepresented in higher education. 

Applicants must be able to commit to the full duration of the internship. Completion of this internship does not guarantee full-time employment.

Learning Objectives
  • Support ScholarMatch’s marketing and communications efforts
  • Conduct community mapping/research
  • Strengthen networking, design, and presentation skills
  • Strengthen design skills
  • Social media post creation

  • Engage in training for scheduling meetings and event planning 
  • Learn newsletter and email design
  • Learn research and community mapping skills
  • Learn social media post design and creation

Learning Outcomes 
  • Strengthened research and digital presentation skills

  • Improved nonprofit communications and marketing skills

Internship Responsibilities
  • Attend weekly team meetings
  • Attend weekly check-ins with the Development Intern Supervisor
  • Provide design, communications, and administrative support
  • Shadow Development and Communications Manager and assist with special assignments
  • Research community building ideas and share recommendations
  • Design community building implementation plan based on research and present to Development team
  • Provide support for virtual and in person meetings and events
 
Compensation
This non-exempt internship will be paid at a rate of $21/hour, with a max of 20 hours per week. This position does not qualify for benefits.
Work days and times are semi-flexible, but must be between Monday - Friday and between the hours of 8 - 6pm PT.
