Marketing/Communications Unpaid Internship

Why Intern With TPWD?
An internship with Texas Parks and Wildlife is a great opportunity for students considering a career in conservation and outdoor recreation. We provide college students with a realistic view of what a career with Texas Parks and Wildlife really entails with practical experience in areas that interest them. Our internship program upholds this value and emphasizes exposing women and minorities to career opportunities and training in natural and cultural resource fields. While unpaid at this time, there is potential for future compensation based on performance and funding availability.

Duties:
Project management: create timelines, attend meetings, keep project components moving and on time/budget
Write creative briefs, emails, social media posts, and other copy; proof copy

Projects/Campaigns:
Big Time Texas Hunts
Conservation License Plates
Hunting/Fishing license sales
Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) awareness (to help prevent the spread of CWD among deer/elk/mule deer)

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Junior or Senior college student;
Experience in project management;
Experience in copywriting for email, social media, online, and print;
Knowledge of marketing principles and practices to meet stated goals, including increasing awareness, purchase, and repeat usage of products and services;
Interest in outdoor recreation or travel industry;
Skill in using MS Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Outlook;
Strong skill in verbal and written communication;
Ability to maintain confidentiality;
Ability to conduct work activities in accordance with TPWD safety program.

Commitment:
Available to work about 20 hours per week with flexible scheduling;
Must conform to TPWD dress and grooming standards, work rules, and safety procedures;
Non-smoking environment in State buildings and vehicles.

Location:
TPWD is located on McKinney Falls State Park property (off Hwy 71 East) where you can swim, hike, bike or fish during lunch hours or after the work day.
Telework permitted with in-office working upon request as needed.

Timing: Starting ASAP for ongoing support.
