To meet students where they are, we will host internships in both a virtual and in-person format. Opportunities listed will either be in-person based on the location mentioned or virtual, depending on business needs. Some of our internship opportunities that begin in September will continue through the Academic Year and end in April. Job Description
2023 – 2024 Academic Year Internship Program:

- Program Dates: September 18, 2023 – April 19, 2024
- Time Commitment: 16-24 hours per week. Exact schedule to be determined based on business need. We will do our best to accommodate course schedules.

The Entertainment Group develops and schedules the network’s primetime, late-night, and daytime entertainment programming, including USA, SYFY, Bravo, E!, Oxygen, and Universal Kids. NBC’s quality programs and balanced line-up have earned the network critical acclaim, numerous awards and ratings success, including most recently winning the traditional September-to-May season in primetime’s key demo, marking the network’s third win in four years. NBC has earned more Emmy Awards than any network in television history.
Areas of placement may include, but are not limited to:
- Bravo & Reality Series Creative: This intern will assist Preditors with promo and social video production for Reality Shows, including screening shows, identifying and pulling shots for various video projects.
- Bravo Reality Design: This intern will work on Key Art Distribution, Logo Design, Social Media Design and Creative Development for Bravo Reality Shows. Using an existing keyart, the design intern will use Photoshop to help us to make the 75 – 200 assets needed for each show as it travels across the non-linear entertainment space. From streaming apps to marketing opportunities, they will be responsible for consumer-facing layouts. Schedule permitting, interns will be invited to contribute to the logo design process for upcoming shows. Interns also interns will help execute assets on our social media feeds and stories.
- E! & Events Creative: This intern will assist the Preditors with promo and social video production for our Reality Shows, screening shows, identifying and pulling shots for various video projects.
- E! & Events Design: This intern will work on Digital Tools, Logos and Social Media. Using an existing keyart, the design intern will use Photoshop to help us to make the 75 – 200 assets needed for each show as it travels across the non-linear entertainment space. From streaming apps to marketing opportunities, they will be responsible for consumer-facing layouts. Schedule permitting, interns will be invited to contribute to the logo design process with the potential of their design being selected to lead the show. Interns also interns will help execute assets on our social media feeds.
- Entertainment Print Design: The print design team conceives and produces imagery, messaging, graphics and experiences for the NBC Entertainment brand, properties, franchises and cross-company initiatives for use across all platforms. This intern will Create and design static print materials using a wide variety of media in addition to collaborating with the Creative Team: Creative Director, Designers, Copy Writers and Production Artists.
- Late Night Digital Design: This intern will assist the Digital Art Director in creating social media, marketing, product, and sales design elements for the NBC late night shows (Late Night with Seth Meyers, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Saturday Night Live, Late Night with Lily Singh). Most often developing premium quality original artwork and marketing designs using Photoshop and Illustrator, to be used on multiple different platforms (including, but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Snapchat, and nbc.com)
- Marketing Cable Creative & Production: The Marketing Cable Creative & Production team consists of 36 design focused staff that support design projects for all 6-cable entertainment brand: USA, SYFY, Bravo, E!, Oxygen, and Universal Kids. Design projects range from static key art to motion graphics for promo packages. This team also supports the design and art direction for marketing event and custom activation for show launches. This is an opportunity to gain hands on experience as well as learn how a creative & design group operate within NBCUniversal entertainment brand. The intern will learn technical design and presentation skills related to the industry as well as get hands on experience designing real projects across all 5 cable brands within NBCUniversal.
- Oxygen & SYFY Creative: This intern will work on Digital Show Promotion, Logos and Social Media. The intern will assist in the long-term process of the end-to-end process of consumer facing key arts, network branding, media buys and internal communications. Day-to-day responsibilities will often include resizing existing approved artwork in photoshop to meet the needs of detailed specs, templates and varied criteria. Other duties may include working with After Effects toolkits to render out high quality deliverables.
- Oxygen & SYFY Design: This intern will work on Digital Tools, Logos and Social Media. Using an existing keyart, the design intern will use Photoshop to help us to make the 75 – 200 assets needed for each show as it travels across the non-linear entertainment space. From streaming apps to marketing opportunities, they will be responsible for consumer-facing layouts. Schedule permitting, interns will be invited to contribute to the logo design process with the potential of their design being selected to lead the show. - Product Design, Entertainment Audience Acquisition & Growth: This intern will be focused on UI/UX design working mainly in Sketch. The intern will conduct competitive analyses of other websites that operate in the same space and help conduct usability tests of our websites. The intern will also identify design problems and areas of improvement, preparing reports of possible solutions to senior management. They will work on current projects with lead designers and stakeholders to design wireframes, mockups, and prototypes.
- USA & Universal Kids Creative: This intern will work on media management, writing / brainstorming and video editing. The intern will assist in managing various forms of media for USA and Universal Kids IP, including but not limited to, dailies, behind-the-scenes material, and marketing shoot footage. They will also have the opportunity to write copy and scripts for consumer-facing marketing material. Interns will be highly encouraged to brainstorm innovative ideas that may contribute to the larger marketing campaign for a given show on USA or Universal Kids.
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
- Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the entire duration of the program.
- Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits).
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship by NBCUniversal.
- Must be working virtually from a location within the United States during all hours worked.
Desired Characteristics:
- Students with class standing of junior or above preferred.
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
- Passion for entertainment marketing
- Interest in typography, branding and layout
- Previous internship experience within a corporate setting
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with Adobe Premiere Pro and/or AVID Media Composer. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite is a plus, but not mandatory (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects).
The hourly rate for student interns is $17.00.
