Luminator is seeking to fill our full-time Electrical Systems Engineering Manager role to join our growing and dynamic Engineering Team where you will be an integral part of the team by providing valuable input as we work toward assessing and implementing goals and mission of the department and Luminator.
The successful Electrical Systems Engineering Manager candidate will be part of a team working to expand a strong and proven concept that has solid growth potential, with the opportunity to create substantial shareholder value. You will be responsible for managing a team of engineers in providing applied engineering and technical consultation for customers in the market of systems studies, power quality analysis, installation, maintenance, repair, and training. You will manage assigned projects with cost accountability to perform work within budgeted estimates. You will interpret specs, customer inquiries, design technical proposals, and pricing for clients. You will provide technical solutions to equipment designs or upgrades, testing of equipment, and safety measurements to include but not limited to reliability and efficiency.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide team leadership and oversight for the day-to-day operation of the Electrical Systems engineering team, including coordination of required production and sustainment support.
- Support design reviews, engineering releases, and other formal and informal review efforts.
- Support pursuits of new business for the team and guide the planning and execution of that work, including the development of proposals with task descriptions, estimates of effort, and basis for those estimates.
- Help create and outline standard work practices, process, and structured knowledge continuity to grow a skilled workforce specializing in aircraft Electrical Systems support
- Lead design and development projects as assigned anywhere within the electric system. This includes all aspects ranging from researching capacity requirements, planning, design, standards development, cost estimating and scope development.
- Provide engineering, operational and troubleshooting support to electric systems operating staff. Includes monitoring and improving system performance, modifying procedures, providing technical advice or training, investigating system failures, and participating in process improvement opportunities.
- Develop, implement, and monitor engineering applications, tools, processes and services used to plan, maintain, troubleshoot, operate and improve the electrical system.
- Define, study, analyze, and maintain transmission, distribution, and generation models.
- Schedule, plan, study, test, and coordinate forecasting models in support of the electrical system.
- Provide project management in the construction, removal, modification, or refurbishment of complex system projects within the electric system. This includes scope, resource and budget development, resource procurement, permitting, project coordination, site inspections, and testing.
- Sign and seal system drawings, specifications, and reports.
- Oversee complex field inspections including testing. Responsible to document and report non- conformance with design plans and specifications.
- Coordinate with other internal and external stakeholders as required regarding engineering requirements and projects.
- Preparation of technical, financial or process analysis related reports.
- Preparation of written and verbal project status reports to include scheduling and financial performance details.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The Manager, Electrical Systems Engineering will be an experienced, operationally oriented professional who can successfully lead as a very hands-on Manager to scale for additional growth and maximize potential.
- Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Knowledge and prediction of physical principles, laws, their interrelationships, and applications to understanding fluid, material, and atmospheric dynamics, and mechanical, electrical, atomic and sub-atomic structures and processes.
- Familiarity working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams; Experience with structural, thermal and/or tolerance analysis.
- Prior experience with electrical systems: Altium, Analog/Digital Circuit, Micro-controller, power supply sequencing, PCB review, CAN, USB, SPI, LTSpice, and SolidWorks preferred.
- 3-5 years of LED lightning system design required.
- 3-5 years of electrical engineering and circuit design experience preferred.
- BS in Electrical Engineering required. Master's degree in EE preferred.
LOCATION:
Plano is a city in the state of Texas, just north of downtown Dallas. It is a hub for many corporate headquarters and has been rated by Forbes as the safest city in 2011. Plano has many visitors, 80% of which are business travelers. The Preston Road area is home to major corporate headquarters of Fortune 1000 companies which have brought thousands of jobs to the area.
Plano has two major space reserves: Arbor Hills Nature Preserve (200 acres) and Oak Point Park & Nature Preserve (800 acres). Bob Woodruff Park and Oak Point Park are connected by biking trails providing an abundance of outdoor recreation for families in Plano. These parks also include activities such as zip lining and Tarzan swings. They have five recreation centers that feature pools, dog parks, and amphitheaters for entertainment. This represents 84 parks. They feature an annual balloon festival every September that draws thousands.
Collin College has two campuses in Plano. Southern Methodist University (SMU) and Dallas Baptist University also have campuses in Plano. There are 70 public schools and 16 private schools. Plano has more graduates than other comparable communities in Texas, graduating 93% of their classes, and score 18 percentage points higher than the same population in Dallas. Many graduate as National Merit Scholars.
Plano is served by the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART). They provide commuter services via bus and light rail systems. The system is used by 1% of the population.
As far as arts, culture, and entertainment, Plano is home to over 700 restaurants. There is a thriving downtown scene that is rated in the top ten within the country. This includes new office spaces as well as major retail establishments. Plano is a major, busy, bustling city and one of the best places in the United States to live.
