Equipment Operator (Stream Restoration)

Overview


RES is the nation’s largest and most experienced provider of ecological restoration and water resource solutions. To date, we have restored over 180 stream miles and 40,400 wetland acres and conserved and preserved 6,100 acres of endangered species habitats. RES operations include planting over 11,000,000 restorative trees and reducing over 240 tons of polluting nutrients. RES navigates and streamlines the environmental permitting process with solutions that balance economic development and ecological sustainability.
 
The Equipment Operator (Stream Restoration) will serve as an Operator I for the construction of stream and wetland restoration projects based out of our St. Louis, MO office. This will include equipment operation, manual labor, equipment maintenance, and general upkeep around the project site. 


What your day-to-day might look like?


  • Operate heavy equipment in compliance with the RES's operating safety policies and procedures. Equipment to be operated includes but is not limited to the following:
  • Excavators (10,000 lbs – 60,000 lbs)
  • Tracked dump trucks
  • Bulldozers
  • Skid loaders
  • Tractors
  • All terrain utility vehicles
  • Preform basic equipment maintenance
  • Assure grade is within allotted tolerances by utilizing survey equipment
  • Install and maintain E&S BMP’s to ensure site compliance

Qualifications


Minimum:
  • High school Diploma or GED
  • Two years of experience operating an excavator
  • Some experience operating equipment other than an excavator
  • Work is seasonally steady and often will require over 40 hours per week
  • Some weekend work may be required during peak periods
  • Ability to travel with overnight stays is required
  • Travel duration is typically Monday through Friday but can be days to months

Desired:
  • Two years of field experience in ecological restoration, land development, stormwater management, utilities, or golf course construction
  • CDL License

Physical Requirements:
  • Willing and able to perform and comply with the following items:
  • Ability to lift or carry up to 50 pounds in rough terrain
  • Ability to use all standard hand tools and mechanized landscaping equipment
  • Ability to operate standard construction equipment
  • Strict adherence to safety protocols, including proper PPE requirements
