The Olami Social Media Content Internship

The Olami Social Media Content Internship

Fall 2023 | Remote | Flexible schedule | 10 hours per week

As an Olami social media content intern, you will help manage, grow, and launch campaigns directly on our social media accounts on Instagram and TikTok. This account, created and driven by college students, aims to celebrate Jewish identity while also combating antisemitism on college campuses. This is a digital, hands-on internship where you’ll work directly with social media experts alongside a small group of your peers to gain experience in community management and content production.

Content interns should expect to develop copy for posts, participate in capturing content from and with fellow students, draft post captions, participate in TikTok takeovers, and apply relevant Instagram or TikTok content trends to a creative campaign.

Ideal candidates will use social media regularly, and understand the nuances of Instagram and TikTok. You will meet on Zoom once per week at a regularly-scheduled time to review work, participate in brainstorm sessions, and discuss upcoming assignments. If you are unable to attend a meeting, you will be expected to review the meeting recording. These sessions provide you the opportunity to increase your engagement in the program, as well as get to know your fellow interns attending schools across the country.

Requirements
  • All interns must be able to start their internship during the week of September 5 — the kickoff meeting for this internship will be conducted on Zoom. The program will run through November 21.
  • This is an hourly paid internship opportunity, with a time commitment of 10 hours/week.
  • This internship is ideal for those who are comfortable with social media best practices and understand different types of social content — from posts to reels to TikTok videos. We are seeking interns who have skill sets in at least one of the following areas: graphic design/Canva, TikTok or Instagram Reel creators, or copywriting.
  • Interns should have an Instagram account that would allow them to engage and post comments to weekly content prompts posted on our social media account.
  • Optional: Interns with a TikTok account will also be able to engage with our TikTok account.
  • All interns should have a strong understanding of how to use Instagram and TikTok. Familiarity with content trends that perform well on these platforms is a plus.
  • This is a fully remote, digital internship that facilitates participation via Zoom meetings, asynchronous collaboration on Microsoft Teams, and communication via email. Interns should have consistent access to a computer and reliable internet.

Professional Development (1 hour per week)
Students will have the opportunity to connect with and learn from renowned media and marketing personalities, and other experts who can help them find their voice and personal brand, and add depth and insight to the way they approach their careers. We also aim to ensure that all interns recognize the profound impact they stand to have on the world around them and that they are grounded in professional ethics.

Students can also elect to use this hour for a 1:1 mentorship made available by the Olami Mentorship program.

Additional Benefits
College credits are available for classes offered in conjunction with the SMI program. Please speak to the internship coordinator for more information.

Students will also be offered subsidized rates for Olami trips in the US to international locations, including Israel, Europe (Spain, Poland, Czech Republic), and South America.

Students successfully completing the SMI internship will be given preferred standing for summertime private-sector internships offered through our program JInternship.
