Mechanical Engineer Intern - HVAC - Summer 2024 - Massachusetts

We are currently seeking a motivated and talented Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our HVAC/Mechanical Department team during Summer 2024. The intern will work with an experienced Mechanical Engineer to help provide engineering support for projects, primarily focusing on the mechanical systems for laboratory, office, data center, hospital, and various other types of building. 
We’re seeking driven college students interested in MEP who:
  • Want to learn from senior MEP Engineers in HVAC, Plumbing, Fire & Protection, Electrical and Sustainability
  • Able to work in the Summer 2024 in the Boston or Burlington Offices
  • Currently enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering or related undergraduate program and looking to obtain an internship (~3 Months) or Co-op (3-6 Months)
  • Full-time availability required for in-person work, consisting of 40 hours per week.
 
Position Summary:
The Mechanical Engineering Intern will work closely with our team of experienced mechanical engineers to support various design and consulting projects. The intern will gain hands-on experience in the design, analysis, and implementation of mechanical systems for buildings, including HVAC systems. The intern will also assist with drafting, calculations, and project coordination.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist with mechanical design and analysis for building systems, with a focus on Plumbing
  • Evaluate code compliance and research industry standards for engineering guidelines
  • Perform calculations to support mechanical design
  • Assist with drafting and documentation of mechanical systems
  • Assist with site visits for MEP systems
  • Procure trade partners and equipment purchases
  • Provide assistance, as needed or directed, to deliver a quality product on schedule
  • Handle multiple projects with efficiency and accuracy
  • Receive and follow through with specific or technical instructions
  • Coordinate with project team members to ensure successful project completion
  • Attend project meetings and participate in project discussions
Requirements:
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • Strong academic record with a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Coursework in HVAC design, thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, visual programming (Python, C+) a plus
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and Revit
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • A high level of interest with MEP systems relating to construction
  • Strong initiative and problem solving abilities
  • Outstanding attention to detail
