Internship Program Overview:
Participate in a 2-semester long internship program built around your career goals and hands-on projects that impact the organization. As part of the Lamb Weston University Recruiting Internship Program, Interns work towards completing a Capstone project and are assigned a mentor who will guide and evaluate performance. Whether you are interested in Agricultural Science, Data Science, Finance, Supply Chain, IT, Manufacturing, Food Science, Marketing, or Engineering, our highly selective summer intern program has projects that will help you build the next stage in your career.
- 2-semester paid internship; May - December (dates flexible)

Packaging Engineering Intern Description:
This position will work directly with the Lamb Weston Innovation Packaging Engineering group in our Richland, WA Technical Center facility in support of one or several assigned packaging development projects.
Typical duties may include but are not limited to:
- Help lead and test new sustainable materials that support business ESG initiatives.
- Support development and maintenance of packaging specification system.
- Supports lab testing and provides input to improve testing capabilities.
- Collaborate with packaging engineers and suppliers in the development of lower-cost or more operationally efficient packaging.
- Work with R&D product developers and sensory team to develop innovative new packaging to meet the requirements of new products or product delivery systems.
- Provides research and development for new packaging innovation and reports out to the department.
- Other duties as assigned
Basic and Preferred Qualifications:
- Must be currently enrolled or a recent graduate of a Packaging, Packaging Science, Engineering, Material Science, or related field
- Juniors, Seniors, or Master’s degree students are preferred but also accepting recent graduates
- Demonstrated strengths in relationship-building, problem-solving and conflict management
- Continuous improvement mindset and methodology
- Excellent verbal and oral communication skills.
- Innovative thinker/problem solver.
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong computer competency; experience with MS suite of products desired
- Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment
