Research & Development Engineering Internship

This internship will be hosted for the Summer 2024 semester. 

Estimated dates: May through June 2024

 

Role Summary

This position provides prototype, development, lab testing, part sourcing, documentation, and drafting support to the Research & Development team.

 

Description of Roles and Responsibilities

  • Set up and conduct lab tests as specified by senior engineers
  • Interpret and apply test methods from test plans, qualification specifications, and compliance standards
  • Compile and analyze data generated from experiments and provide detailed reports related to results of experiments.
  • Fabricate concept prototypes and working  prototypes with the use of internal and outside resources
  • Maintain the engineering labs including parts inventory, data acquisition equipment, and various lab grade instruments and their calibration
  • Provide general drafting and design services to the Engineering team using Solidworks

 

Eligibility Requirements

  • Freshman, Sophomore, or Junior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Material Science or Chemical Engineering
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA
  • Experience with SOLIDWORKS, LabVIEW, MATLAB, and statistics a plus
  • Excellent  internet skills for searching, reviewing, identifying and sourcing state of the art technologies, components and solutions
  • Strong writing and documentation skills
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work
