Engineering Intern – Highway Design

Pennoni is a full-service engineering firm that actively works with a very diverse list of clients & projects in various disciplines!  We are a fully employee-owned company (ESOP) and have been performing a range of engineering design services for more than 50 years; therefore, we offer Engineering candidates a wider spectrum of technical experiences.  We are based in Philadelphia, PA; we also have 40+ regional offices in multiple states.

 

We are hiring for Engineering Interns to join our Transportation team at our office in Newark, DE.  This role will be focused on highway design projects.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform engineering analysis, design, and review of Transportation projects with a focus on roadway & highway design.
  • Contribute to a variety of projects:  intersection & roadway design, curb ramp evaluations / assessments & design, signing & striping plan development, Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) plan development, Right of Way (R/W) deed & mosaic development, etc.
  • Contribute to stormwater management:  hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) analysis, drainage design, etc.
  • Additional duties may be assigned, as needed.

 

 

Basic Requirement:

In order to qualify, we need you to be enrolled in a relevant Engineering-oriented field of study (e.g.:  Civil Engineering, etc.) at an ABET-accredited institution.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with engineering tools (e.g.:  CADD, GIS, BIM, etc.); exposure to MicroStation CONNECT and/or OpenRoads Designer is a plus!
  • Experience working with stormwater management design calculations; experience utilizing Hydrology and Hydraulics (H&H) tools like HEC-RAS is a plus!
  • Proficiency on basic office software applications, especially Microsoft Office 365.
  • Excellent organizational skills, especially with a proven ability to work in an energetic and challenging work environment on a variety of projects; this person will be expected to collaborate with our team while demonstrating a self-motivated demeanor and effective multi-tasking skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & written).
