Design Engineering Interns (2)
Eaton’s Electrical Sector is currently seeking two (2) design engineering interns to join our team. This position is based at our Richmond VA facility.
Position Overview:
The Design Engineer Intern will be responsible for design related engineering projects in either power systems (electrical) engineering or mechanical engineering for our data center power distribution products. The interns will work closely with engineering personnel on routine and non-routine design programs to help improve existing designs, generate new designs and increase effectiveness of design engineering processes.

In this function you will:
- Apply knowledge of design principles and technologies of heavy electrical equipment design with low and medium voltages, including magnetic design, such as transformers, Inductors, and reactors
- Design and develop Power Distribution Units, Remote Power Panels and Custom solution based on customer driven orders
- Collaborate with other departments while meeting timelines to deliver reliable product
- Provide testing support for troubleshooting products when on the production floor
- Maintain and release design documentation in a controlled environment (PDM)
- Have responsibility for mentoring and recruiting highly skilled engineering talent.

Required (Basic) Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in an engineering discipline at an accredited education institutional institution (college or university)
- Minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA or higher
- Relocation is not provided for this role. Candidates must reside within the immediate geographic area to be considered
- Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future
Preferred Qualifications:
- AutoCAD system experience and required working knowledge and experience with computers preferred
- Experience with MRP systems (SAP)
- Strong coaching and facilitation skills.
- Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications
- Experience with Microsoft Project
Position Criteria:
- Knowledge of a wide variety of manufacturing processes including assembly and pull systems.
- Technical understanding and experience with Lean Manufacturing Systems and Six Sigma methodology.
- Ability to think strategically and see big picture in dynamic business environment
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment; to communicate articulately and professionally across many organizational levels and functions
- Highly motivated, works with a sense of urgency, driven to add value and deliver results
