Graduate Lighting Designer

Buro Happold is looking for a dedicated and skilled Graduate Lighting Designer to join our inclusive and welcoming team.

As a Graduate Lighting Designer, you will collaborate with architects and engineers to develop creative, energy-efficient buildings that provide aesthetics to their physical surroundings and utility to their occupants. You will work alongside our senior lighting designers, assisting in the delivery of creative and technical design solutions to our challenge projects.

If you were already working in this Graduate Lighting Designer role, these are some things you could expect to do:

  • Knowledge of lighting as an art and science, demonstrate appreciation of architecture
  • Work effectively on an independent and team basis
  • Directly work with clients and/ or architects, develop as a confident communicator
  • Concept visualization and 3D light modelling
  • Assist in the production of design materials, such as concept design documents, design reports, drawings, and luminaire specifications
  • Develop daylight massing analysis for architects and consultants
  • Opportunity for becoming a well-rounded, creative, stimulated and educated designer

To apply for this lighting design job, you will need a Bachelor's or Master's degree in architecture, engineering, building science or architectural engineering coursework in related to electric lighting or daylight analysis design. You will also require the following:

  • Coursework and/or experience in lighting design, architecture (studio and/or history)
  • Basic understanding and design interest in various building design sectors, including architectural lighting design and daylighting analysis
  • Ability to communicate design thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible manner
  • Experience using AGI, Revit, and Photoshop
  • Not required, but bonus if have experience in 3ds Max, ElumTools, Grasshopper or Rhino
