Specific Duties

 

  • Serves as a Missile Systems Engineer within the missile modeling team responsible for creating computer-generated threat representative and predictive weapon/missile characteristics and performance models.
  • Reviews, exploits, analyzes, and makes engineering judgments based on collected data to develop models and simulations using computer aided design and engineering software. 
  • Works as part of a modeling team with support from branch technical analysts to develop threat representative trajectory models that accurately model known or estimated system behavior for customers requiring high fidelity models. 
  • Utilizes engineering principles and all-source analysis to identify or estimate the characteristics and performance of current and forecasted indirect-fire systems/munitions as well as evaluate their strengths and weaknesses. 
  • Proactively coordinates, monitors, and integrates current intelligence data to ensure timely, comprehensive and accurate modeling output.

 

Specialized Experience &Minimum Qualifications

 

Applicants must have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position.

Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled.

 

  • Specialized experience is defined as experience in conducting open-source research, vetting and analyzing information to make sound engineering judgments on aerospace airframe and system configurations. Applies collected data and analysis to develop models and simulations using computer aided design and engineering software to evaluate system capabilities and performance.

Qualifications for the GG-07/09 grade level:  To qualify applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade/level (GG-05/07).
