Teaching Intern

Who We Are: BaseCamp305 is a school dedicated to the creativity and learning of high-achieving students in Miami Beach. Our mission is to foster the curiosity and ingenuity of our students through a dynamic, innovative STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education and unique project-based learning experiences. We are committed to nurturing an exceptional, diverse, and inclusive community of lifelong learners who are inspired to explore, question, and collaborate, while developing the critical thinking and problem-solving skills needed to prepare them for their future. 

What You Will Do: We're currently looking for a student to join BaseCamp305 as a Teaching Intern. In this role you will partner with the Lead Teacher and school leadership to assist in developing an innovative curriculum designed to provide the optimal learning environment for a diverse group of students. During the academic year, you will aid in the instruction and inspiration of all students across grade levels.  

Core Responsibilities:  

  • Assist in developing and executing grade-level specific lessons.​
  • Assist teachers in designing and delivering lessons.​
  • Collaborate with team members in co-teaching.​
  • Take over a class when a teacher is absent.​
  • Actively participate in and support the execution of special events.​
  • Assist in the supervision of special programs like PE, Music, Yoga, and recess.​
  • Demonstrate flexibility by moving between different grade levels as needed.​
  • Support classroom management and behavior management strategies.​
  • Provide one-on-one or small group instruction to students who may need additional help.​
  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of an engaging and organized classroom environment

What We Need from You:   

  • Currently pursuing BS/MS in elementary education
  • Tech-savvy; ability to dive in and learn new applications and systems
  • Competency with basic computer skills including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OneNote, OneDrive, etc.
  • Flexibility with grade levels (Pre-K - 4th)
  • Must successfully establish employment eligibility and successfully complete background checks, including criminal background and sex offender registry checks as a condition of employment.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Ability to commute  to the Miami Beach area.

Physical Requirements: 

  • Standing/sitting for long periods of time.
  • Bending, lifting, pushing, kneeling, crouching, crawling, stooping at children’s level.
  • Must be able to lift children and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to reach at and above shoulder height to access higher areas of play equipment, etc.
  • Must be capable of adapting to frequent changes in position throughout the workday.
  • Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person or on the telephone.
  • Use of hands and fingers for manipulation, and using computer keyboard, children’s educational tools, play equipment, and perform first aid and CPR.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.
