Communications Specialist

Dysart is looking for a Communications Specialist to join our team!  We're seeking a visual communicator who is especially strong with social media content and engagement in our close-knit team. The best candidate will have a great eye for design and be ready to handle or quickly learn photography, video, graphic design and website editing to support our marketing campaigns. Applicants should be strong writers who are detail-oriented with the ability to multitask, adjust, adapt, and meet quick deadlines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with development and implementation of marketing campaigns.
  • Research, write articles, and develop content as directed.
  • Monitor, post content to and maintain the district and school websites.
  • Write, coordinate, schedule, monitor and interact on district social media accounts and assist schools with management of their social media as needed.
  • Assist with planning and implementation of department projects and events.
  • Design graphics for informational and promotional purposes.
  • Provide photography and video support at district and school events.
  • Provide positive District image for all visitors and personnel.
  • Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
  • Establish and maintain good rapport with students, employees, community members and vendors.
  • Travel to local events, occasionally after normal working hours.
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Bachelor’s or associates degree in communications, marketing, journalism or related field

         OR

  • Three (3) years of experience in communications, marketing, journalism or related field required.

LICENSING:

  • Valid Level I Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card (AZ FPCC).

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Demonstrated competency in computer literacy, including Google for Education and use of Apple/Mac computers.

KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • Standard practices, methods and materials of assigned work.
  • Photo editing.
  • Graphic design principles.
  • Adobe Creative Suite software.
  • HTML and CSS.
  • Social media platforms, best practices, management programs and news monitoring platforms.
  • Professional photo and video camera equipment.
  • Techniques and methods for organizing, prioritizing and monitoring work.
  • Business math concepts.
  • Filing and record-keeping principles.
  • Occupational hazards and applicable safety principles and practices.
  • Uses and properties of supplies and equipment.
  • Applicable federal, state and local laws, codes, regulations.

  • Specialized equipment relevant to area of assignment.
  • Modern office technology.

SKILL IN:

  • Writing, proofreading and editing.
  • Composing and maintaining basic original documents including reports, presentations, and correspondence.
  • Reading and interpreting general documents.
  • Performing research, compiling and assembling data.
  • Social media account management and website editing through a content management system (CMS).
  • Following directions and meeting standards.
  • Providing attention to detail in assignments.
  • Writing general correspondence and speaking effectively with others.
  • Prioritizing projects to meet department and media deadlines.
  • Interpreting assortment of instructions furnished in variable forms.
  • Researching and solving moderately complex issues with little or no assistance.
