Summer Intern/Project Engineering

Department Description:

The Engineering Intern will work as a member of the Facilities, Engineering, and Validation (FEV) team. The FEV team is responsible for the procurement, modification, and sustainability of equipment and utilities at the Binney Street manufacturing facility and technical research and development laboratories. 

Job Description:

The Binney Street FEV team is looking for an Engineering Intern to assist with the execution of strategic initiatives to advance the site's lead vaccine candidate through Phase III clinical trials. The candidate will execute projects related to the procurement, modification, and / or optimization of GMP manufacturing equipment / utilities / laboratory instrumentation. The candidate will be asked to support commissioning / qualification activities for GMP manufacturing equipment / utilities.  

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related disciplines.
  • Basic understanding of GMP requirements.
  • Must be able to work full-time (35-40 hours/week) throughout duration of the 10-12 week internship (May/June - August).
  • Must have an active student status and/or within 12 months post-graduation from a BS or MS degree program. Post-doctoral candidates are not eligible.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Past co-op/internship experience in a technical operations or R&D based role within the biotech industry.
  • Interest in clinical / commercial GMP manufacturing operations and eager to learn more about technical operations.
  • Motivated and hardworking individual who has strong attention to detail and is willing to perform due diligence / research to gain a thorough understanding of the task at hand when learning a new skill.
  • Resilience in overcoming unexpected setbacks and possesses a willingness to work through challenges to deliver results.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must successfully pass a drug screen and background check prior to assignment target start date.

Candidates who are hired for an on-site role or hybrid role, and reside outside of 50-miles from their assigned work location, are eligible for relocation stipend.
