Building Envelope Intern (2024) - Facades - Boston

Our Building Envelope practice provides owners, architects, developers, contractors, and facility managers with solutions to a wide range of building envelope needs for new and existing buildings of every use and construction type. We consult on all envelope components, including facades, roofing, and waterproofing systems for new and existing buildings. We perform new envelope design, building envelope condition assessments, investigations, feasibility studies, and peer reviews for our clients. In addition, we work with our clients to oversee the execution of these envelope services in the field, during construction. 

 

The Role 

We have an opportunity for a Building Envelope Intern for our Building Envelope practice.  This is a full-time internship for the Fall of 2024.  

 

Responsibilities 

  • Assist with construction administration, responding to RFIs and organizing submittal logs. 
  • Collaborate with engineers to perform field investigations, condition assessments, and field performance testing of new and existing buildings.
  • Interpret building codes and project design and construction specifications. 
  • Contribute to design work with in-house staff and other design disciplines to prepare drawings, sketches, and construction documents within REVIT, AutoCAD, or Bluebeam.  
  • Job site visits to review ongoing building envelope construction, take photos and field notes, and assist with preparing field reports. 
  • Research materials and systems to determine specific project suitability. 


Requirements  

  • Undergraduate or graduate student with a concentration in engineering or architecture. 
  • Experience in Revit, AutoCAD, or Bluebeam 
  • Experience with Microsoft Suite programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent academic record. 
  • Ability to solve problems and communicate with a team. 
  • Valid driver’s license  
  • Ability to climb ladders or scaffolding and comfortable working at heights above ground level. 
  • An interest in building construction and engineering practices.
