Quality Engineering Intern

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:

The QE intern will work with the Quality Manager and Quality Engineer to evaluate products based on customer expectations, and develop processes to improve quality at the source. 

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop checklists for production processes.  By leveraging defined work instructions created for specific job tasks,
    • Identify Critical-to-quality tasks and communicate them effectively through a checklist (SafetyCulture).
    • Organize steps in a workflow that is easy to understand and follow.
    • Identify tools required for inspection processes throughout the assembly process.
  • Audit processes based on defined standards and work instructions.,
    • Support the QE in development of a process auditing program.
    • Define takt times and key inspection steps required for delivery of products to minimize warranty and enhance customer satisfaction
    • Take actions on findings of audits to prevent recurrence
  • Other duties as determined by the Quality Manager
    • Assist with receiving inspection of vendor-supplied parts
    • Assist with implementation of 5S projects throughout the facility
    • Assist with inspection of manufactured assemblies against known standards.
    • Assist with development of standards for manufactured assemblies.
    • Assist with development of control charts for CTQ joints.

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Prior experience in a manufacturing setting is preferred.

 

EXPERTISE:

  • Knowledge of Google Workspace software is required (Sheets, Docs, Slides).
  • Knowledge of 3D modeling software is recommended but not required.

 

EDUCATION:

  • Current enrollment in a 4 year college degree in manufacturing, mechanical, industrial engineering, operations management, or similar field is recommended.

  • This role will require excellent communication skills to interact effectively with internal partners

    • site management

 

LOCALIZATION AND TRAVEL EXPECTED:

  • This position is located in Madison, SD.
  • Travel is not required.
