Restoration Monitoring Intern - NYS Parks and Recreation Division of Environmental Stewardship
OVERVIEW
The position is based in DeVeaux Woods State Park; however, restoration projects to monitor are located throughout the Niagara Region.
-Interns typically work 10-20 hours per week during the semester and 20-40 hours per week during the summer.
DUTIES DESCRIPTION
The Restoration Monitoring Intern will:
- Monitor restoration projects with and without assistance from Parks staff.
- Review existing monitoring programs used in New York State and across the Great Lakes.
- Review restoration project goals and plans to determine monitoring needs and relevant monitoring programs.
- Conduct monitoring programs at various restoration projects to collect data on current project conditions and assess the effectiveness of each monitoring program.
- Attend meetings with Parks staff and other New York State agencies.
- A final report on work completed during the internship.
Qualifications
- Student applicant must be a current undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in environmental sciences, biology, environmental engineering, landscape architecture, or similar discipline.
- Student applicant must have valid driver’s license.
