Chemical Engineering Co-Op Intern
Co-Op / Summer intern position for students in the chemical, mechanical, or electrical engineering fields at the SI Group, Freeport, TX site. The position will provide an opportunity for students to gain valuable work experience at a chemical production facility. The successful applicants will be mentored by experienced engineers in their field on assignments that range from small capital projects to supporting day to day activities. In addition to the specific assigned projects / tasks, the student will have the opportunity to spend time interacting with and or shadowing various functions on site (production, logistics, lab, maintenance).
Prior SI Group interns have worked on projects such as:
- Field Verifications
- Design Calculations
- Construction Verifications
- Line and Equipment Labeling
- Block Flow Diagrams and P&ID Mark-ups
- Daily Production Engineering Support
- Equipment and Systems Investigations
Safety/Health/Environment:
- It is required of the Chemical Engineering Intern to be responsible for his/her own safety and the safety of others at all times.
- Adhere to all applicable EH&S regulations and Engineering Standards.
- Participate as needed in safety audits, incident investigations, PHA/HAZOP studies. Ensure company and statutory EHS standards are maintained, including Responsible Care.
- Complete all assigned and required safety training in a timely manner.
- Degree program must be Chemical Engineering
- Completed a minimum of one year of a degree-granting four year College or University (rising Juniors or Seniors preferred)
- Must be 18 years or older, and be an active undergraduate/graduate in good academic standing
- GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Eligible for work within the US
- Completion of pre-employment screening requirements of a background check and drug testing
