Legal Intern

Legal Intern Position

At the Law Office of Allen Jacobi, we give students who have a proven interest in the Entertainment industry the opportunity to work in a law office and a record label. Interns get hands-on experience by contributing to all the projects that cross the desk of attorney, Allen Jacobi. While working at the firm, there will be independent and group tasks, which include performing research, and drafting formal letters, etc. In addition, interns will get to critique new music, and correspond directly with the firm’s clients by email, and/or via phone. Interns are also taught the basics of filing trademarks, copyrights, and corporations, and are trusted to fulfill those filings on their own, under the supervision of the attorney. Our largest on-going project is reaching out to and negotiating with publishers on behalf of the firm’s clients, acquiring digital licenses, and handling publisher licenses.

Requirements

  • Applicant understands this is an unpaid internship that provides hands-on career training, with the potential to earn college credit (at school's discretion),  with a flexible schedule tailored to their academic schedule
  • Must be available to intern at minimum of three days per week for the duration of one full semester
  • Must be a current law student, or recent undergrad in pursuit of a law degree in the near future (Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience is required for non-law students)
  • Must possess interest in the entertainment industry with a passion for music and film
  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a group setting
  • Good time management skills
  • Abiltiy to work well with various technological platforms
  • This position requires the use of your own devices, such as computer, laptop, and phone
