Project Engineer INTERN

THIS POSITION REQUIRES TRAVEL AND THE ABILITY TO WORK OUTDOORS ON CONSTRUCTION SITES.

We are seeking sharp civil or environmental engineers, environmental scientists, geologists, or other related disciplines (e.g. Math or Science) with an interest in geotechnical, environmental, or construction specialties for summer and/or fall internships.

Our ideal candidates would:

  • Be comfortable working in the construction environment
  • Have a good sense of finance and costs
  • Be technically sharp and able to learn our specialized technologies
  • Enjoy traveling to and working on projects located all over the US
  • Be a good communicator, oral and written communication (English)

You will have an opportunity to learn our business from the ground up with a great deal of responsibility and autonomy early in your career. You will be tasked with a variety of responsibilities that will keep you growing both professionally and personally.

Our engineers and technicians can expect the following through their employment:

  • Receive broad experience in geoenvironmental / geotechnical contracting

Engineers and technicians are given assignments that will allow them to learn the many facets of geoenvironmental / geotechnical construction, including on-site quality control, management, and supervision. In the office, you will participate in bench-scale studies, estimating, and business development.

The position will be primarily travel based, with non-travel time spent reporting to one of our offices or working remotely.

While you are assigned to field projects, you would receive additional reimbursements, which currently include:

  • Travel / lodging - Project-related travel expenses fully covered by the company, including air fares and lodging.
  • Per-Diem - to cover meals and incidental expenses. Additional per-diem is provided for employees who choose to forgo the company provided lodging for their own accommodations, such as campers.
  • Vehicles – When driving to projects, personal vehicle coverage, including mileage and/or flat rate, is provided.
  • Mileage reimbursement for business use of personal vehicle at the allowable rate per the IRS
  • Weekly Vehicle allowance when assigned to field projects
  • Rental vehicles provided at project location when employees fly
  • Rotations - One trip home (weekend) for every 3 weeks of field service. In lieu of your trip home you may elect to take a travel voucher

Many of our specialized environmental construction technologies, including shallow and deep soil mixing for in situ fixation or stabilization and permeable reactive groundwater treatment barriers using slurry wall techniques, were derived from our previous experience with civil geotechnical projects.
