How You’ll Make this Internship Opportunity Your Own

 

Our Engineering Internship is designed to make a direct impact on a broad variety of projects and help to co-create and deliver successful solutions to GDIT’s clients. As an Engineering Intern, you’ll play a key part in supporting engineering projects that will support our company's goal and have a lasting impact on our clients.

 

A Day in the Life

 

  • Perform basic engineering work concerned with the design, evaluation, planning, testing and operation of traditional infrastructure and/or cloud native solutions, and/or IT Operations tools for advancement of IT operations for commercial, government, military and/or scientific uses.
  • Assist with analyzing customer requirements and provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate complexity. For example:
    • Learn to maintain equipment and/or systems integrity while ensuring compliance with policies.
    • Maintain current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.
    • Coordinate hardware and software acquisition as required.
  • Assist in discovery, assessment, documentation, and recommendations for optimizing IT Operations and overall mission effectiveness.
  • Assist in testing, diagnosing, and fixing a broad range of Infrastructure problems that are present within typical Enterprise IT environments.
  • Participate in large system and subsystem planning, developing use cases for continuous service improvement, and applying technology to solve critical business or mission problems.
  • Help ensure that applications and systems are compliant with established quality standards and meet customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant technology domains (Networking, Virtualization, Cloud, and Cyber technologies) as assigned.
  • Participate in special projects as required.
  • Support the completion of technical tasks.
  • Assist with the solutions to technical problems of limited scope.
  • Assist with the coordination for new products, software, upgrades, and equipment.
  • Assist with documentation for processes and procedure related to computer systems and operations.


The Must-Haves

 

  • Currently enrolled in an associate's, bachelor's or master's degree program in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline from a United States-based college or university. 
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office products (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Excel, and Teams)
  • Basic knowledge of infrastructure and software solutions commonly used across a large defense customer mission set.

  • Ability to build meaningful relationships with manager and members of your team in a remote environment with periodic presence on site as required.
