Intern, News Production

ABOUT THE ROLE & TEAM:

The Summer Internship Program will build a foundation for early career talent and form future professionals at the organization. The internship program at TelevisaUnivision allows participants to obtain real on the job experiences in their areas of interest and specialty. This experience will expose interns to the broader business and understand how the areas operate and collaborate cross functionally. 

Dates: June 10 to August 16, 2024

Hours: Approximately 40 hours a week

YOUR DAY TO DAY: 

You will be able to learn what it takes to produce a network newscast, from its planning stages in the editorial meeting to the execution of a live show in the control room. You will obtain hands-on experience working closely with producers creating elements for stories that will air on national television. You will be able to pitch stories for shows and help produce them along with our network reporters. You will get to work with all roles in a newsroom including anchors, producers, technical crews, writers, graphic designers, editors and many more. 

  • Assist on daily show rundown, development of supers, banners, and graphics.
  • Work closely with executive producers, producers, and associate producers to build rundowns.
  • Join editorial meetings and participate in the planning and production of network newscasts. 
  • Work closely with producers and provide suggestions on the production of stories. 
  • Research information and materials necessary for production. 
  • Assist in the planning of recording segments for air. 
  • Help research background information for anchor and reporter interviews. 
  •  Help produce elements for daily newscasts.
  • There will be a group innovation project assigned to all interns at the beginning of the program where you will be working cross functionally and present the ideas at the end of the program to an executive committee.

YOU HAVE:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Broadcast, Production, or a related field, preferred.Overall GPA minimum 3.0 or above. 
  • Expected graduation of summer 2024 or winter 2024.
  • Strong communication, collaborative, and leadership skills.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish), required. 
  • Participation in prior internships, extracurricular activities, community organizations and/or professional associations, preferred. 
  • Must have unlimited work authorization in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
