WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Provide technical support to the operations and engineering team with a focus on electrical hardware, control systems, software, and industrial vision system
  • Support new product introductions, new process/equipment start-up, process optimizations, vendor qualifications, and process alternative evaluations
  • Implement new and/or current manufacturing methods into manufacturing
  • Monitor production to determine areas of improvement and react to unforeseen production/manufacturing issues
  • Create and execute validation activities according to plant/division policy.
  • Troubleshoot and assist in repairs of all equipment, instrumentation and processes
  • Reviews, recommends and writes specifications and procedures for all equipment and processes
  • Responsible for completing project tasks within time and budget constraints
  • Leads small project teams / supports larger programs to successful completion including contractor oversight
  • Plans, coordinates, installs and performs operational checkouts for all equipment and processes
  • Determines the accuracy of drawings and initiates corrections when discrepancies are found
  • Develop / edit equipment preventative maintenance procedures by partnering with operators to document required personal protective equipment, parts, tools and steps to complete
  • Partner with external equipment suppliers to identify spare part needs
  • Partner with Maintenance Planner to implement document or spare part changes into Maintenance management system – Maximo
  • Develop/Review equipment Lock Out Tag Out procedures in conjunction with the EHS department

 

This position has a direct impact on productivity and performance throughout the plant. This includes product quality and the effective utilization of headcount / equipment. This position will be accountable for meeting our compliance standards including FDA, OSHA and Abbott policies and procedures.

 

SHIFT

The shift for this position is 6:30 pm to 6:30 am on a 2,2,3 rotating schedule offering every other weekend off.

Schedule Example:

WEEK 1:

WORK: Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday

DAYS OFF: Wednesday AND Thursday.

 

WEEK 2:

WORK: Wednesday & Thursday

DAYS OFF: Monday, Tuesday AND Friday, Saturday & Sunday.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING

REQUIRED

  • High School diploma
  • 2+ years of experience in technical trade or equivalent technical experience
  • Demonstrated competence in PLC programming, electrical troubleshooting, industrial vision systems, and process instrumentation. 
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal required
  • Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action
  • Maintains strong working relationships in a collaborative, fast-paced, goal-driven environment
  • Listens to and understands others’ points of view; possesses interpersonal skills to negotiate and reconcile differences
  • Self-starter and who consistently seeks out opportunities for improvement and takes it upon themselves to implement without being directed
  • Takes pride in all aspects of workmanship with high standards for being neat, clean, and organized

 

PREFERRED

  • Associates degree or technical certification in electrical or engineering technology
  • Experience programming Allen Bradley ControlLogix PLCs, PanelView HMIs, and or FactoryTalk
  • Work experience in the food / medical industry under FDA regulation
  • Experience with electrical power and controls including instrumentation, contactors, relays, and breakers.
