Interior Design Summer Internship

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with an interest in pursuing a career in real estate development to join our brand-new design internship program and to help us bring this dream to life. The intern will gain hands-on experience supporting our Design & Construction teams with the end-to-end development process, including research and planning, project management, reporting, design, and procurement for both local and international projects.  

Location: Miami, FL (On-Site)

Duration:  9 weeks commencing June 3 

Duties/Responsibilities:

 

  • Assist the Design Director with project tracking, note-taking, scheduling, and follow-ups.
  • Participate in design drawing, shop drawing, submittal package, RFI reviews.
  • Synthesize information and complete graphic presentations.
  • Produce renderings and sketches to illustrate and explore design ideas.
  • Participate in project planning meetings and reviews.
  • Participate in field-related walkthroughs, observations, and documentation.
  • Work on project reports and budget documents for company leadership.
  • Participate in work scope packages, bid packaging, bid solicitation, bid leveling and contract award.
  • Gain hands-on design and construction management experience through interactions with teams and executives specializing in all facets of the development team’s design & construction process.
  • Provide administrative support for the Design & Construction Departments on active and future projects, such as project tracking, data entry, and updates.
  • Any additional special projects or duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings & details.
  • Excellent practical trouble shooting and problem-solving skills.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Suite software, including Office, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and 3D modeling software, such as Sketchup and/or Revit, and Adobe Creative Suite, including Acrobat, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
  • Experience with specialized software a plus, but not required: SharePoint, Slack, Procore: Project Manager Cert, Procore: Architect Cert., Bluebeam Revu, and Microsoft Project (or similar scheduling/PM software).
  • Ability to hand draft/sketch preferred.
  • High degree of organizational & time management skills.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, interpersonal skills, ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum: Rising fourth year student enrolled full time at a university, majoring in either Interior Design, Architecture, or similar degree.
  • Demonstrated interest in commercial, mixed-use, or hospitality design and construction through previous coursework, extracurricular involvement, or work/internship experience to be given additional consideration.
