Unmanned Undersea Systems Engineer

Join the Unmanned Undersea Systems Branch at Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock!

We’re seeking Project Managers, Systems Engineers, and Subject Matter Experts to help develop and deploy cutting-edge systems, including large and extra-large unmanned vehicles (UUVs), remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), autonomous undersea vehicles (AUVs), seabed warfare systems, and advanced power systems.

What You'll Do:

  • Project Management: Lead high-impact projects from start to finish. Develop project plans, lead engineering teams, track progress, manage risks, and ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Systems Engineering: Design and optimize unmanned systems, ensuring both performance and safety. Conduct thorough analyses to validate and enhance system functionality.
  • System Design/Development: Apply your expertise to the design and development of next-generation unmanned systems.
  • Test & Evaluation: Conduct and oversee the test and evaluation of unmanned systems. Plan and lead both laboratory and at-sea test events.
  • Contractor Oversight: Oversee contractor activities, ensuring both performance and compliance. Resolve issues and facilitate effective communication.
  • Collaboration: Partner with top engineers, scientists, and external collaborators to tackle technical challenges and drive project success.

Qualifications:

  • Citizenship: U.S. citizen.
  • Education: Enrolled in or recently graduated with a undergraduate or graduate degree in Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering; Mechanical, Ocean, Aerospace, Electrical, Systems, Computer, or Robotics Engineering; Computer Science; Mathematics/Statistics; or Operations Research.
    Note: For all engineering majors - must be enrolled at/or graduated from a university program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).
  • Academic Standing: Minimum GPA of 2.9 or higher.
