Life Scientist/ Environmental Engineer/ Physical Scientist - R4

Summary

This position is in Region 4, Environmental Justice, Community Health & Environmental Review Division, NEPA & Special Programs Coordination Branch, NEPA Section. About Region 4.

This is an office-centered position*--you must physically report to the duty station stated in this announcement on a regular basis.

Duties

At the entry level of this position, you will:

  • Provide technical advice and support to federal, state, local or tribal agencies on environmental reviews submitted according to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).
  • Provide engineering or scientific data to comply with federal historic preservation and endangered species statutes impacting hazardous waste site cleanups and provide technical support to legal counsel to ensure compliance with current legal requirements.
  • Provide technical support and implement technical assistance standards, guidelines and formal regulations related to community
    revitalization.
  • Serve as a Contract Officer’s representative for contracts and/or Project Officer for assistance agreements and Inter-agency Agreements in accordance with Federal and agency policies

When entering a Federal job at a grade level lower than the highest promotion potential level, you may be promoted to more complex duties and work more independently, as your career progresses.  NOTE:  Career ladder promotions are not automatic, and all eligibility and qualifications requirements must be met in order to progress to the next grade level.

You will spend less than 25% of your work time on contracts, grants/cooperative agreements, and/or interagency agreements.
